Morgantown woman wanted on drug-related manslaughter charges arrested in Russellville

MORGANTOWN, Ky. – A woman charged with drug-related manslaughter is in custody.

Madison Westmoreland, 25, of Morgantown, was arrested by the Russellville Police Department on Wednesday.

Westmoreland was served an indictment warrant on charges of second-degree manslaughter, trafficking in controlled substances, second-offense fentanyl, and first-degree persistent felony offender – first degree.

The charges stem from an overdose death investigation conducted by the Morgantown Police Department and Kentucky State Police at Green River Lodge on Sunday, June 9, 2024, according to Beech Tree News. A deceased male was discovered at the scene.

Morgantown police say Westmoreland and a second suspect, Aaron Hypes, 43, of Morgantown, allegedly sold fentanyl and heroin to the man. Police say the male victim believed he was purchasing cocaine.

Westmoreland was lodged at the Logan County Jail and is being transferred on Thursday.

Hypes is also charged with second-degree manslaughter, trafficking in controlled substances, second-offense fentanyl, and first-degree persistent felony offender. He is still at large. Police believe he may be in the Louisville area.
