Morgantown VFW honors POW/MIA soldiers in Kentucky
MORGANTOWN, Ky. – In Butler County, veterans and the community come together to honor those who are not able to make it home to their families.
The poem “In Flanders Fields” was read, along with a moment of silence for the prisoners of war and those who are missing in action from the area and the commonwealth.
We spoke to the commander of the VFW Post in Morgantown, who told us that the Boy Scouts of Butler County were on hand, and were honored with an award.
He says it’s great to recognize the work they do for veterans in their community.
“The Boy Scouts here in Butler County do a lot… and we do a lot with them, with the ROTC as well… and we enjoy having them out, and I love giving them the opportunity to learn about the military and people that served in the military… what they did for this country,” Andrew Gidcumb says.
Andy also says it’s important to remember those who aren’t able to be with their families, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
