Morgantown officially earns ‘Trail Town’ certification

MORGANTOWN, Ky. – The city of Morgantown, Ky., has officially earned its status as a Kentucky Trail Town.

Melanie Hunt, chairman of the Morgantown Trail Town Task Force, made the announcement during last Thursday’s city council meeting.

Morgantown is the 22nd city in the Bluegrass to earn Trail Town certification.

A trail town is defined as a place along a long-distance trail or trail system where people can explore the area on foot, bicycle or by boat.

Morgantown sits right in the center of the Green River.

A reception is planned for Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Butler County Arts Guild to celebrate this new status.

An official certification will also be presented during the event.

Eventually, signage will be posted on Interstate 165 indicating that Morgantown is now recognized as a trail town.
