Monroe County sheriff reports second dog attack near same location in Gamaliel

GAMALIEL, Ky. – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says dogs attacked a woman in Gamaliel on Tuesday.

According to a release, an MCSO deputy responded to the area of the Gamaliel soccer field on Washington Street, where a woman was walking when she was attacked by four dogs.

When the deputy arrived, the woman was being treated by EMS for lacerations ranging from surface level to the bone.

MCSO says the victim sustained broken bones and crush injuries.

She was transported to the Medical Center at Bowling Green for injury treatment. She was later flown to Nashville for continued treatment.

The deputy says a search was conducted to locate the dogs with the assistance of the Gamaliel Fire Department.

One of the dogs was located on East Main Street and euthanized.

The other three dogs have not been found.

This was the first of two dog attacks reported in Gamaliel this week.

The second occurred on Wednesday morning when a juvenile was attacked and injured near the same soccer field. The owner was cited.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has not publicly stated whether the dogs involved in the attacks are linked.
