Model planes take to the skies in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Some planes took flight over Southcentral Kentucky, but they didn’t take off from an airport, and they weren’t actual planes people fly in. They were model planes from the Southern Kentucky Model Aero Club.
The SKYMAC Model Aero Club is where actual pilots show off the model planes they built. The models are constructed to take flight.
Members of the club use their own model plane kits to build them, wire them up and have them do tricks in the air.
Club member David Lewis said his favorite part of the Model Aero Club is meeting and spending time with all the model plane enthusiasts.
“We’ve got people here from Northern Tennessee, Western Tennessee, Kentucky. They come from all over. We’ve got a couple coming in from Georgia. We’re getting to meet new people and fellowship with club members,” Lewis said.
