MIT Students Inspire Young Minds During Cross-Country STEM Tour Stop in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, KY.- MIT undergraduate students biking across the United States made a special stop in Bowling Green to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
Their visit brought dozens of local kids to the Innovation Campus for a hands-on STEM workshop. For many students, it was their first exposure to science, technology, engineering, and math in such an interactive way.
MIT junior, Greta Lawlar, encouraged kids to ask questions and see science as a journey of discovery.
“Science is about getting new understanding,” Lawlar said.
The event featured lessons in technology and machine learning, aimed at helping kids dream bigger. Kahlil, CEO of Money Bot, emphasized how early exposure to tech can shape futures.
“The world is changing fast, and kids are the ones who can keep up,” he said.
Fourth grader, Ellie Silver, shared her dream of becoming a pediatrician, saying, “I really like feeling better instead of sick.” She added with a laugh that she could “get back” at kids for giving her so many shots.
The message of the day was clear: children’s goals are limitless when given the right tools.
Organizers stressed how accessible learning resources are today compared to the past. With phones, tablets, and places like the Innovation Campus, students have the world at their fingertips.
As the MIT students continue their journey, they leave behind a spark of inspiration in every city they visit.
