Micronanoplastics building up, new study shows

Micronanoplastics, or microscopic bits of plastic, are building up in people who have plaque in the blood vessels in their neck.

According to a study from the American Heart Association, people with fatty neck arteries can have more than 50 times the amount of microplastics than those with arteries free from plaque buildup.

A previous study found that people with this issue are significantly more likely to die or to have a non-fatal heart attack or stroke.
