Metcalfe County Schools employees lose home in fire

EDMONTON, Ky. – Two Metcalfe County Schools employees are recovering after their home was destroyed by a fire last night.

Don and Toni Williams are members of the Transportation Department with Metcalfe County Schools.

Don is a bus driver, while Toni is a bus monitor.

Superintendent Josh Hurt confirmed today that their home on John Gilpin Road was destroyed.

Both of them made it out safe, but were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Some of their pets did not survive, according to the school district.

Hurt is sending this message to the community as they rally around the Williams’.

“We just appreciate the community’s love and support and we know that everyone will be overly giving. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers and all the people that are trying to make sure that they have what they need as winter is coming upon us and also as the holiday seasons approach,” he says.
