Metcalfe County High School unveils Hornet Enterprises

EDMONTON, Ky.-To kick off 2020, Metcalfe County High School has unveiled a program called the Hornet Enterprises.  The goal is to start a T-shirt print and graphic design business which will be student led. A business called Main Street Apparel was looking for a buyer, and the district bought the operation, which will become the Metcalfe County High School T-shirt shop. Metcalfe County High School Principal Clint Graham said he’s ready for this venture.

“I’ve always seen the significance of a business program in high school. When I first came here, that’s something that was a goal of mine, to get a business program here,” Graham said.

Students will be given the chance to earn dual credit in business-related courses to ensure they’re workforce ready. Students said they feel blessed to have this opportunity.

“I’m excited to get creative and just to have everyone work together to create something that should be special to the community and school,” said Metcalfe County High School junior Bailee Garrett.

“It makes me feel super special in that our county and school district really care about us and cares about our futures,” added junior Kayla Anderson.

School staff are also taking pride in this new opportunity. An opportunity that they would have loved to have in their high school days.

“If that had been offered here at the time, it could have maybe changed the whole direction of what we did and what we do with our lives,” said Metcalfe County High School dual credit and workforce ready coordinator Genea Scroggy.

When it comes to job hunting and job interviewing, both students and staff agree that Edmonton is filled with opportunity.

“We’re really excited about the direction that we’re going with this. We think it’s a great opportunity for our kids,” Graham said.
