Metcalfe County Elementary principal announces retirement

EDMONTON, Ky. – Metcalfe County Elementary School principal Michael Gill has announced his retirement.

Gill’s retirement will be effective Oct. 1.

“It has been an honor to serve the students, staff, and community of Metcalfe County for the past 11 years,” Gill said. “Throughout my entire career, it has been my hope to use every opportunity to show everyone I encountered that I truly loved and cared about each of them.”

Gill came to Metcalfe County in 2014 as the first principal of the newly merged Metcalfe County Elementary School.

“I was blessed with the opportunity to open new doors in Metcalfe County. I hope the foundation we laid is strong for future generations. I walk away knowing that I gave my best each day, and I am incredibly proud of that accomplishment. I wish each member of my Hornet family the very best. I will miss each and every one of you.”

Superintendent Josh Hurt said, “Mr. Gill has been a stalwart in our school system for many years. We appreciate all the work that he has put in and value the legacy he will leave behind. Obviously, he leaves big shoes to fill, but also leaves behind a better Metcalfe County Elementary School. We are thankful for his service and look forward to building on his successes in the future.”

Assistant principal Brandon Brockman said, “Mr. Gill is an outstanding instructional leader who made a lasting impact not only on our school but on the entire community. He is a man of great character and integrity, exemplifying the qualities of a true servant leader. As both a mentor and a supervisor, Mr. Gill offered invaluable guidance and unwavering support, leaving a profound and lasting influence on all those he led.”
