Metcalfe Co. man charged with DUI after being found unconscious in vehicle

BEAUMONT, Ky. – One man is facing charges after being found passed out in a vehicle in middle of the road in Metcalfe County.
According to a uniform citation, the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 23. to Summer Shade Road in Metcalfe County for a black pickup truck stopped in the road.
Deputies say a caller reported the driver was unconscious inside of the vehicle.
Upon arrival, deputies say the vehicle was stopped in the eastbound lane with loud music playing and a driver that appeared unconscious.
Authorities say the vehicle was in drive and running.
After several tries to wake the driver, deputies say the rear passenger window was broken to get to the driver’s compartment.
The driver was then removed from the vehicle and identified as Kelly Vibbert, 38, of Summer Shade.
While leaving the vehicle, deputies say Vibbert had a container of suspected methamphetamine, Oxytocin pills, marijuana, rolling papers and digital scales. Authorities say he appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and admitted to “smoking ‘meth,’ marijuana and taking prescription pills.”
During a vehicle search, deputies say they found a partially smoked marijuana cigarette and a glass pipe with residue.
Vibbert was arrested and transported to the Barren County Detention Center.
He has since been released from that facility and faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance, first offense, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (opiates), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, possession of marijuana, driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense, display or possession of canceled or fictitious operators license, no registration receipt and no registration plates.
