Metcalfe Co. Educational Foundation receives $5,000 from Candela Renewables

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – The Metcalfe County Educational Foundation has received $5,000 to support summer camp experiences for gifted and talented Metcalfe students.

According to a release by Candela Renewables and MCEF, Candela announced the donation help ensure Metcalfe County students could attend Western Kentucky University’s Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students.

The two-week camp offers students the chance to explore new ideas, develop concepts, make friends and share experiences.

“We thank Candela for this generous donation,” said Dr. Benny Lile, president of the MCEF. “The foundation’s inaugural fundraising effort was to sponsor at least two students for WKU’s gifted and talented summer camps – a first for Metcalfe County. With Candela’s support, we’ve achieved that goal.”

The donation was presented on July 8 at the district office.

Aubree Muse, project development manager at Candela Renewables, says, “Contributing to the Educational Foundation has been especially rewarding, as it not only enriches student learning opportunities but also helps build a legacy for future generations.”

Candela Renewables is currently developing the Summer Shade Solar Project, a solar and storage facility in Metcalfe County, according to the release. The site is located adjacent to the Summer Shade substation on U.S. 90.
