Med Center officials trying to ease coronavirus concerns expectant mothers may have
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Hospital officials at The Medical Center at Bowling Green are trying to ease the coronavirus concerns that expectant mothers may have.
According to Caitlin Burklow, the hospital’s director of Women and Newborn Services, those who work in the unit are focused on the health and safety of growing families.
Burklow said the OB unit is separated from general patients in the hospital, with limited traffic and strict security.
New procedures are now in place, allowing just two visitors at a time in the rooms, while no one under the age of 16 is allowed in.
In the NICU, only the mother and a significant other are permitted.
As far as the impact COVID-19 has on pregnant women, Burklow said there are more questions than answers.
“There are a lot of unknowns with this virus,” said Burklow. “With something like that, prevention is key. Stay away from the hysteria on social media, wash your hands, practice social distancing, be safe and in close contact with your provider.”
The Medical Center at Bowling Green is the only hospital in Warren County that delivers babies.
