Med Center Health offers internship opportunity for high school students
BARREN COUNTY, Ky.- Med Center Health in Glasgow has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Glasgow-Barren County to provide a unique opportunity for four high school girls.
These students are participating in a paid internship designed to equip them with valuable life skills and real-world experience. Workforce development coordinator Rachel Carber explains the importance of exploring careers in a safe and supportive environment without the pressure of a long-term commitment.
Intern Kessley Amos shares how the experience has helped her figure out if health care is the right path for her.
“Now I have time to figure out if this is what I want to do or not,” she said.
Beyond career preparation, the program has deeply personal meaning for Kessley, whose mother passed away from a heart attack. She hopes her future work in health care might help prevent other families from suffering similar loss. The internship is not just a career stepping stone—it’s a chance for personal healing and purpose.
Carber notes that early exposure to different career paths can influence not just the students but future generations.
This initiative marks the beginning of many more opportunities through the Boys and Girls Club.
