Med Center Health has food drive for Salvation Army
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Med Center Health has surpassed their collection goal at their annual food drive on Thursday.
Stuff the Turkey took place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Medical Center at Bowling Green.
They collected cans, cereal and other non-perishable food items to donate to The Salvation Army.
Droves of people showed up to drop off food all morning long, and by 10 a.m. the Med Center had already surpassed last year’s total of 5,600 donations.
For the different departments at the hospital, the food drive is also a chance for a friendly competition.
“Our goal is always to just provide as much help as we can. We always try to beat last year’s record. Departments always like to compete for the winner of Tom Turkey the trophy to the department that raises the most canned food items,” said Patrick Maloney, the Director of Perioperative Services, Medical Center at Bowling Green.
Maloney also says while the competition is fun, the best part about the food drive is giving to those in need.
