Med Center Health celebrates the Longest Day of the Year
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – June 21st is the official first day of summer and the longest day of the year.
Med Center Health is using this extra long day to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s.
The Alzheimer’s Association says the day with the most light is the day we fight.
Several organizations across the world fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s through fundraising.
Med Center Health offers a number of resources for Alzheimer patients in our region. They say they are honored to be able to help out.
“We go out and teach various skills to the caregivers to help them know how to help the patient with Alzheimer’s. It may just be that getting them to stand up from their chair… how to do that… it becomes difficult because the person with Alzheimer’s may not be able to just say, ‘Hey, can you stand up?,'” Shaska Hines, Clinical Manager for the Home Care Program at Med Center says.
Med Center offers an Adult Day Center in Bowling Green as well as the Cal Turner Rehab & Specialty Care Rehab center in Scottsville.
They also offer a support group for caregivers.
