McHenry earns second CUSA Player of the Week nod of 2023-24

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WKU ATHLETICS) – For the second time this season, Hilltopper Basketball junior guard Don McHenry has been named Conference USA Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. McHenry posted back-to-back team-high point totals and helped the Tops complete a 2-0 road swing last week, defeating CUSA leader Louisiana Tech on Thursday and Jacksonville State on Saturday.
McHenry earns the recognition after averaging 22.0 points while shooting 16-for-31 from the field with a perfect 10-of-10 mark from the free-throw line last week. The native of Milwaukee finished with 20 points off 7-for-13 shooting and 6-of-6 from the stripe while notching six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a pair of steals in the Tops’ 81-76 win over LA Tech on Thursday. McHenry followed the performance with 24 points off 9-for-18 shooting, another perfect 4-of-4 free-throw mark and one rebound in the team’s 70-59 win over Jax State on Saturday.
The wins improve the Hilltoppers’ record to 17-7 overall and 6-4 in CUSA league play. The pair of conference road victories mark the first time a CUSA team has completed a 2-0 road swing in league play this season. The weekly honor serves as the third CUSA Player of the Week nod for a Hilltopper in 2023-24.
