McDonald’s brings back decades old ‘Monopoly’ game

(CNN) – McDonald’s is bringing back a decades old game for customers.

The fast food chain’s Monopoly returns to the United States on Oct. 6.

This promotion, based on the classic Hasbro board game, made its debut at McDonald’s in 1987.

In addition to free food, some of the prizes up for grabs include 1 million American Airlines miles and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

One lucky player will also walk away with $1 million in cash.

However, things are a little different this time around.

The game pieces will be scanned into the McDonald’s app for redemption.

The Monopoly promotion was last done in the U.S. in 2014.
