McCracken Co. Sheriff’s Office investigating reported shooting

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a shooting left one man injured.

According to the MCSO, deputies responded on Feb. 8 to the 5400 block of Lovelaceville Road for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, authorities say they found 30-year-old Damareon Prather of Paducah on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies say Prather was transported to a local hospital before later being transferred to an out-of-state hospital for incapacitating injuries.

During an investigation into the incident, deputies say they executed a search warrant at the residence where the shooting occurred. They say they learned the home was being used to cultivate marijuana and found a stolen firearm and suspected cocaine.

As a result, 33-year-old Joshua White of Paducah was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property (firearm), cultivating marijuana, five or more plants (firearm enhanced) and possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

Authorities say they later developed a suspect in the shooting, identified as 31-year-old Aaron Blake Walker of west Paducah.

According to the sheriff’s office, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Walker for first-degree assault.

McCracken County SST, detectives and deputies from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on the 9400 block of McCaw Road on Monday.

During this time, deputies say law enforcement found Walker, along with marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Walker was taken into custody and arrested. He is charged with first-degree assault, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
