LONDON, Ky. – Two people who assisted in locating the remains of a shooting suspect in Kentucky are receiving their reward.

On Tuesday, the City of London announced mayor Randall Weddle and Kentucky State Police trooper Scottie Pennington presented Fred and Sheila McCoy with a $10,000 check from WB Transport.

Kentucky State Police credited the McCoys with helping investigators find the remains of 32-year-old Joseph Couch.

Couch is accused of shooting five people along Interstate 75 on Sept. 7.

The city says this is the first of several checks the McCoys will receive as part of a $35,000 reward for locating the body.

City officials say their actions were “instrumental in bringing closure to this tragic event, and we are deeply thankful for their assistance.”
