McCoy introduced as next head coach of Franklin-Simpson boys basketball

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Monday morning, Will McCoy was welcomed into his new coaching home at Franklin-Simpson High School.

Wildcat basketball will now be headed by the reigning 4th Region Coach of the Year.

McCoy was formally introduced at FSHS following seven seasons with the Greenwood Gators.

He built a proven winning program in the Swamp and is coming off of a 23-8 season, making the move to Franklin-Simpson bittersweet.

Monday, he stated how he viewed the Wildcat head coaching job as an underrated destination, and having family ties to the area helped in the decision-making process.

He may go from the 14th District to the 13th District, but Coach McCoy will stay in the same region, and he now looks to lead a new team to cut down the nets in Diddle Arena.

“You know where it goes through and who it goes through, and my early intention is to get Franklin-Simpson back in the mix of that, be one of those teams that they don’t want to draw on that Saturday morning when the region tournament drawings happening and they feel a little bit of fear whenever they see us on paper,” McCoy said. “That’s something this school’s had for a long time and something that I look to carry on and kind of reinstill a little bit.”
