McConnell falls twice at Capitol on Wednesday

WASHINGTON – Sen. Mitch McConnell left the majority leader’s office in a wheelchair on Wednesday.
This was following two incidents where McConnell fell.
The first fall happened when McConnell was going down the stairs after leaving the Senate chamber and missed a step.
After being helped up, he went on to a Republican policy lunch, where he fell again.
Two Republican senators described that fall as a bad one.
His spokesperson says lingering effects of polio are to blame, but the Kentucky Republican is fine and will continue working.
This is the latest in a string of incidents for the 82-year-old lawmaker.
In December, the longtime GOP senator tripped and sprained his wrist.
In 2023, McConnell was treated for a concussion after he fell at a hotel in Washington, D.C.
