McConnell comments after McCarthy removed as House speaker
WASHINGTON – Sen. Mitch McConnell responded to the removal of House speaker Kevin McCarthy.
McConnell says he and McCarthy worked closely during McCarthy’s tenure.
“Speaker McCarthy should be proud of what he and his team have accomplished on behalf of the American people over the past nine months,” McConnell says.
In a release, he noted McCarthy’s persistence and enthusiasm he brought to his work.
McConnell says he believes McCarthy had all of the qualities “of an effective representative and Speaker.”
A new speaker has still not been selected at this current time.
