Maynard, Seymore named Phil Steele All-Americans

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football offensive lineman Laurence Seymore and punter Cole Maynard have been named All-Americans by Phil Steele, the publication announced.
Seymore was named a Second Team All-American on offense by the publication, while Maynard received Fourth Team All-American recognition.
Phil Steele also recently released its 2025 Postseason CUSA All-Conference Team. On offense, Seymore received First Team recognition, wide receiver Matthew Henry and offensive lineman Marshall Jackson were Second Team and receiver K.D. Hutchinson was Third Team. On defense, defensive end Harper Holloman was named Third Team All-CUSA by the publication, while linebacker Jaylen Wester and safety Jaylen Lewis were named Fourth Team. Maynard and long snapper Rex Robich were named First Team on special teams.
Maynard and Seymore have already been recognized as All-Americans by several other outlets.
Maynard became the first Consensus All-American during WKU’s FBS Era (since 2009) and the sixth overall. He became WKU’s first Consensus All-American since Buster Ashley received the recognition in 2004. He received Walter Camp All-America Second Team, Associated Press All-America First Team and American Football Coaches Association All-America First Team recognition. Maynard led the nation in punting average during the regular season at 48.7 yards per punt over 51 punting attempts. He was named the CUSA Special Teams Player of the Year and was a First Team All-CUSA selection. He was named to the Ray Guy Award Preseason Watch List, the 2025 CUSA Preseason Watch List, and was twice named to the Ray’s 8 List honoring the top punting performances of the week. Maynard was also recognized with the top special teams performance of the week in the league twice as CUSA’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
Maynard has accepted an invitation to play in the 2026 American Bowl on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026.
Seymore was named an All-America Second Team offensive lineman by the Football Writers Association of America. Seymore was named All-CUSA Second Team Offense, and was twice named CUSA Offensive Lineman of the Week. He was one of only three players to receive the weekly recognition multiple times during the season, with Jackson being one of the others. The Miami Gardens, Florida, native helped the Hilltoppers to the second-best scoring offense in CUSA during the regular season at 29.75 points per game. Seymore helped the Hilltopper offense become one of the top passing offenses in the league with his 90.2 pass blocking grade during the regular season, which was the best mark among guards in CUSA during the regular season and ranked seventh-best in the nation among the position group. He did not allow a sack during the regular season.
