Matthew 25 bringing AIDS Walk to Bowling Green Halloween morning

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – Matthew 25 is bringing back the Bowling Green AIDS Walk as the organization celebrates 30 years of providing care and support to people living with or affected by HIV.
The free community event is scheduled for Oct. 31 at Preston Miller Park. Organizers say the walk will raise awareness about HIV, help reduce stigma and support people living with the virus.
The event will include a community walk, resource booths, food and family-friendly activities. Participants can walk individually or form teams with friends, family members or coworkers.
Rachel Trout, public relations and event specialist at Matthew 25, said bringing the walk back is a way to honor the organization’s history while connecting with the Bowling Green community.
Trout said the AIDS Walk was one of Matthew 25’s regular fundraising events during its early years. The organization is reintroducing it as its Bowling Green operations continue to grow.
Money raised will help fund patient services, including health care, medication assistance, transportation, mental health support and food assistance.
Matthew 25 serves 37 counties across Kentucky and southwest Indiana. Trout said funds raised through the organization’s events stay within those communities to support local patients.
The walk also aims to show support for people living with or affected by HIV.
