Many local businesses help with veteran’s food drive
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Kentucky Veterans Brigade is asking the community for non-perishable items for this year’s Veterans Alliance Center food drive.
Eleven local businesses have boxes at their locations, including Ernie T’s Barber Shop, Donatos Pizza on Cave Mill, True Hotel, Dollar General in Plano, Dollar General in Woodburn, the Dollar Tree in Fairview Plaza, Campbell Chevrolet, both locations of Waterworks, Elite Repeats and the Veteran’s Alliance Center.
Anyone can donate non-perishable food items like canned soup, canned meat and peanut butter. people can also make monetary donations.
Robert “Gunny” Wilson with the Kentucky Veterans Brigade says it means so much to the veterans’ community that so many local businesses wanted to help out and support them.
“I’m a veteran myself. We were given orders while on active duty- you must take care of your own. And we’re not giving up those orders, we’re going to keep doing them. We are gonna take care of our own,” said Wilson.
The 11 businesses will be taking donations until Saturday.
