Man wanted out of Butler County arrested in Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho – A man wanted out of Butler County has been apprehended in Idaho in connection with a fatal overdose.

According to the City of Moscow Police Department, officers arrested Aaron S. Hypes Thursday on a felony warrant for charges of manslaughter, trafficking fentanyl, and being a persistent felony offender.

The charges stem from an overdose death investigation conducted by the Morgantown Police Department and Kentucky State Police at Green River Lodge on June 9, 2024. A dead male was discovered at the scene.

Madison Westmoreland, 25, of Morgantown was arrested by the Russellville Police Department on March 6, 2025 in connection to this investigation

Authorities say they were contacted by Kentucky law enforcement, who stated they believed Hypes may be in the Moscow or Latah County area.

Authorities say the Latah County Regional SWAT Team was deployed due to the elevated risk.

Officers arrested Hypes on the 1100 block of North Polk Street Ext.

He remains at the Latah County Jail.
