Man wanted for 2013 Christian County murder arrested after falling from cliff

LANCASTER, Ky. – A man wanted in a 2013 murder investigation in Christian County was arrested last week.
According to KSP, detectives received information on the whereabouts of 55-year-old Jason Patterson on August 12. Patterson was wanted in Christian County in connection with a 2013 murder investigation. KSP says Fay Springfield was allegedly murdered on July 20, 2013.
On August 14 at approximately 9:30 am, Kentucky State Police Special Response Team members, along with personnel from KSP Post 7, KSP Aviation, KSP Canine, KSP Hazardous Devices and KSP DESI Interdiction, responded to a home on Polly’s Blend Road in Garrard County. The information received indicated that Patterson was inside the home.
KSP determined Patterson was inside the home. Patterson allegedly refused to cooperate with law enforcement and fired a weapon before fleeing into a wooded area.
Authorities pursued Patterson into the wooded area and located him on a cliffside. KSP says Patterson fell approximately 40 feet and sustained injuries. Patterson was removed from the cliffside by a rope system. He was then transported for injury treatment and remains in custody.
KSP says once Patterson is released, he will be served the murder warrant and a theft by unlawful taking warrant.
The investigation is ongoing.
