Man killed after being struck on highway in Clay County

MANCHESTER, Ky. – A pedestrian has reportedly died after being struck by two vehicles on a highway in Clay County.
According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers were notified by Clay County 911 of a vehicle and pedestrian collision on U.S. Highway 421 North at the junction of Young Drive on Wednesday.
Authorities say a preliminary investigation shows that around 8:13 p.m., Clay County 911 received a call regarding a male subject wearing all black clothing walking in the road of U.S. 421 North.
At around 8:28 p.m., authorities say dispatch received multiple calls reporting the male had been hit by a vehicle.
An initial investigation determined 35-year-old Shannon Bryant of Manchester was walking in the northbound lane of U.S. 421 when he was struck by a passenger vehicle.
Moments later, troopers say Bryant was struck a second time by another vehicle, which was also traveling northbound.
Bryant was transported by Clay County EMS to Advent Health, where he was pronounced dead by approximately 9:35 p.m. by the Clay County coroner.
KSP was also assisted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
