Man in critical condition after becoming unresponsive at Marshall County jail

BENTON, Ky. – An investigation is underway after authorities say an in-custody Marshall County man became unresponsive at an area detention center.

According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers were requested to investigate an interaction involving an in-custody Marshall County man.

Authorities say the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office had arrested Kendrick Owens on Thursday morning on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and resisting arrest.

Following his arrest and while at the Marshall County Detention Center, Owens became unresponsive, and deputies requested medical personnel assistance, authorities say.

Owens was initially transported to a local hospital before being taken to a Louisville hospital, where he was reported to be in critical condition, according to the Kentucky State Police.

No other injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
