Man charged with vehicular homicide in fatal Hart County crash

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – One man is facing a vehicular homicide charge following a fatal crash involving alcohol.

According to Kentucky State Police Post 3 public affairs officer trooper Katan Parker, 45-year-old Randy Hawkins was arrested in connection with the two-vehicle crash that occurred in April, which resulted in the death of 26-year-old Jordan Pippin of Horse Cave.

Hawkins is now facing charges of vehicular homicide when under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense.

Court records state a warrant of arrest on indictment was issued on Nov. 4 for Hawkins. Hawkins was arrested on Saturday.

WNKY News 40’s previous coverage of the crash indicated the wreck occurred at the 5100 block of Cub Run Highway in Munfordville on the early morning of April 25.

According to authorities, a Ford-F-150 driven by Hawkins was traveling on Kentucky 88 when he tried to overtake another vehicle and collided with a Nissan Maxima driven by Pippin.

Pippin was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hart County coroner.

Hawkins was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow for treatment at the time, according to Parker.

Hawkins remains at the Hart County Jail.
