FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Tennessee man is facing charges in connection with allegedly trafficking fentanyl in Simpson County.

According to a uniform citation, the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force was contacted Thursday regarding a drug transaction.

Authorities say the caller stated they were buying 3 ounces of methamphetamine and a gram of fentanyl from 29-year-old Jaurez Montgomery of Nashville, Tennessee.

Later last night, the citation states the Kentucky State Police Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Montgomery.

During a vehicle search, authorities say they did not locate narcotics. However, the citation states Montgomery denied consent for a search of his person.

Montgomery was arrested.

According to the citation, the drug task force told Montgomery it was aware he was “coming to Simpson County to sell narcotics.” In addition, authorities stated they informed Montgomery he was “going to jail for conspiracy to traffic in meth and fentanyl, and if he had anything illegal on his person, he could be charged for promoting contraband.”

At the Simpson County Jail, authorities say they detected methamphetamine and fentanyl in Montgomery’s possession, which he removed.

Montgomery remains lodged on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, and importing carfentanil, fentanyl or fentanyl derivatives.
