Man charged with theft in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. – A man was arrested on multiple charges Tuesday in Glasgow.

On Tuesday, April 26, the Glasgow Police Department responded to Happy Valley Road in reference to a shoplifting complaint.

The GPD said officers confirmed Robert Mercer, 31, of Austin, Ky. had stolen items from Ely Drugs and fled from the store.

Officers found Mercer inside of another business and recovered the stolen items, taking Mercer into custody. Police said they also found methamphetamine located inside of Mercer’s sock.

Mercer was arrested and charged with TBUT or DISP all others, possession of a controlled substance, first degree, first offense (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, promoting contraband and public intoxication, controlled substance.

Mercer was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
