MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – One man is facing multiple charges following a pursuit in Hart County.

According to uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police observed a vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. 31-W with a crushed windshield.

Troopers say the vehicle then failed to reach a complete stop at a red light when entering Old Main Street.

While catching up to the vehicle, authorities say they tried to initiate a traffic stop. During this time, troopers say the vehicle reached 88 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone.

The vehicle then hit a telephone pole head on, deploying its airbags, authorities say.

The driver was later identified as 23-year-old Randy Edwards of Columbia, Kentucky.

Troopers say Edwards opened the vehicle and crawled out before he was handcuffed. Troopers say they requested EMS to the location.

Troopers say Edwards stated he fled due to having multiple warrants and a small bag of methamphetamine in his pocket, with more in the vehicle.

Authorities say Edwards was placed in an ambulance. He was transported to T.J. Community Hospital in Glasgow.

During a vehicle search, authorities say they found suspected methamphetamine.

Edwards faces charges of speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit (restricted zone), reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), failure to wear seat belts, first-degree criminal mischief, failure to or improper signal, disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer and failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, second offense.
