Man charged with DUI, fleeing police in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An Owensboro man is facing charges in Bowling Green after police say he fled in a vehicle while driving under the influence.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department was dispatched on Thursday at 2:23 p.m. to the 1900 block of Russellville Road regarding a drunk driver in progress.
Police say caller advised a car was driving erratically, drove on the sidewalk, ran a stop sign and almost hit a pedestrian trying to cross the street.
The citation also states the caller stated there was a passenger in the car.
Police say they observed a vehicle matching the description in the area of Valleybrook Avenue. After the vehicle disregarded a stop sign, police say they turned their emergency lights on, and the vehicle began to speed.
Police say the cruiser siren was activated, and the vehicle disregarded three more stop signs before pulling into the parking lot off of the 400 block of Western Green Avenue.
Upon contact, police say they could smell an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver, identified as Pedro Ramirez, 28, of Owensboro.
Police say they saw several open liquor shooters in the vehicle and could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Police say the female passenger stated the vehicle was hers. During a search, police say they located marijuana and nine shooters.
Ramirez was placed into custody and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for a blood draw. Police say Ramirez “threated to hunt” the officer’s family multiple times.
Ramirez remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, second offense, driving on a DUI-suspended license, first offense, second-degree disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, third-degree terroristic threatening, reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle prohibited and third-degree sexual abuse.
