Man charged with drug possession, theft of license plate

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department arrested a man on drug possession and motor vehicle registration theft offenses on Tuesday evening.

According to a citation, an officer patrolled Clay Street and stopped at a business. The officer observed two subjects exchanging something near a motor vehicle.

The business employee says the subjects inquired about a similar motor vehicle in the parking lot, a Suzuki Grand Vitara. He observed one of the subjects walk to a similar vehicle before returning to the front of the business. The officer says a registration check did not match the motor vehicle the motor vehicle observed when the officer arrived.

One of the subjects left the Clay Street business and was located at a business on Adams Street.

Police say the subject provided false information. The officers were unable to identify the subject.

The subject consented to a search of his vehicle located at the Clay Street business. Officers say they located a substance consistent with crack cocaine. After a registration check on the vehicle, it was determined that the registration plate was from a similar vehicle in the parking lot.

Officers at the Adams Street business were then instructed to apprehend Jimenez. Jimenez led police on a brief pursuit before being placed into custody, according to the citation.

Police say that upon search of the subject, they located identification and a pill consistent with a schedule 3 narcotic.

The man was identified as Jeramel Santiago Jimenez, 48.

Jimenez is charged with theft of a motor vehicle registration plate, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (cocaine), second-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), drug paraphernalia (buy/possess), first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle) and giving officer false identifying information.

Jimenez is lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.
