Man charged with burglary at U.S. 31-W Bypass business in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man is facing burglary charges involving a Bowling Green business.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded for a burglary alarm at 651 U.S. 31-W.
Upon arrival, police say they saw a subject in all black with a hood pulled over his head, picking up two duffel bags and running toward Lehman Avenue.
The subject continued running toward Fairview Avenue, police say, before a foot pursuit later ensued.
Police say the subject dropped the two duffel bags and continued across Fairview Avenue, climbing a fence before slowing down and putting his hands up when the officer displayed a taser.
The subject began to run again and stopped to hide in front of a parked truck, police say. The subject complied to commands and was taken into custody.
The subject was identified as Vincent Halay, 19 of Bowling Green.
He is charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others between $1,000 and $10,000, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot) and possession of burglary tools.
Upon a search of the duffel bags, police say $1,500 to $2,000 of merchandise was inside, plus damage to the business is estimated to be over $1,000.
Halay was transported the Warren County Detention Center.
