Man charged with burglary at Bowling Green storage company

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is facing charges related to burglary at a Bowling Green storage company.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded to Ace Self Storage just before 10 p.m. on Monday.

Police say the caller stated thee unit latches were damaged.

Authorities say they found a debit card with a woman’s name in one of the units. In security footage, police say they could see a male and female walking from near one of the units on Monday.

After identifying the female in the video using a driver’s license, police say they identified the male as 42-year-old Mark Sampson.

Police say they learned Sampson had three outstanding warrants.

Officers say they later observed Sampson wearing the same clothes seen in the surveillance video. Sampson was arrested on the outstanding warrants.

Upon a search of Sampson’s backpack, authorities say they located an electronic scale, a pack of bags, empty needles and suboxone.

Police say Sampson confirmed he had been in one of the storage units with a damaged latch. Authorities say he stated he had been keeping items in it without paying for it and returned to discover a lock on it.

Police say Sampson stated he had used bolt cutters on it. He stated the female identified on the debit card had not been involved, police say.

Sampson was charged with third-degree burglary, trafficking in marijuana, first offense (less than 8 ounces), second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.
