Man charged in Monday shooting

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A Russellville man is charged in a Monday shooting that left one man injured.

Early Monday morning Russellville police were called to 102 E. Second Street at 1:37 a.m. and upon arrival found Caleb Sowers, 23, of Russellville wounded by a gunshot.

Sowers was taken to a Nashville hospital where he was treated and released, according to a release from the Russellville Police Department.

Police determined that an altercation took place between Sowers and Evan Merriman, 19, of Russellville, according to the release. Merriman is accused of shooting Sowers. He is charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree assault.

He was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.
