HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – One man is facing multiple charges following an incident at a daycare in Christian County.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, John J. Jones, 42, of Cadiz was observed on Nov. 25 on Hopkinsville Child Development Center daycare surveillance cameras from around midnight to 2 a.m. damaging a ring doorbell.

Police say he was also on video unlawfully entering into the fenced play area by breaking a lock.

While inside of the play area, police say Jones broke the lock off the storage shed, unlawfully entering and removing items stored there.

Police say a child found an empty clear plastic bag commonly identified with illegal drugs later that morning. Polices say this indicated Jones had unlawfully entered the building to use illegal drugs.

Police say Jones could be seen wandering aimlessly, and upon leaving, damaging the fence to make an exit out of the play area.

Police say nearby, they observed a male that fit the description of someone that had broken into a car at the courthouse earlier that morning.

According to police, the male, identified as Jones, was found with property stolen from the victim’s vehicle. The suspect also had five Clonazepam in his possession as well, authorities say.

Jones was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail. He is charged with receiving stolen property, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), public intoxication – control substance (excludes alcohol), third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespassing.
