Man arrested in Hart County on rape charge involving child

CUB RUN, Ky. – One man is facing charges in an alleged rape case involving a child under 12 in Hart County.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police arrested 45-year-old Joseph Mathis of Magnolia on Monday in Cub Run.

Court records state a warrant of arrest on indictment was issued on Nov. 4.

Mathis faces charges of first-degree rape, victim under 12 years of age, first-degree sexual abuse, victim under 12 years of age, and persistent felony offender II.

Mathis is currently being held at the Hart County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.

He is scheduled for arraignment on Nov. 18. News 40 will provide additional information as it is released.
