FRANKLIN, Ky. – A man is facing multiple charges after a drug task force agent had illegal drugs tossed at him in Franklin.

According to a uniform citation, the South Central Drug Task Force observed a white Ford F-150 traveling north on Nashville Road around 3:30 p.m. Monday in Franklin.

Authorities say they were aware the driver, identified as Patrick Cartwright, 38, of Big Sandy, Tennessee had a suspended license out of Tennessee.

During a traffic stop, authorities say they spoke to Cartwright, who had an expired insurance card and clear plastic bag sticking out of his pocket.

When authorities asked what was in it, they say Cartwright threw the bag out the window before it struck a drug task force agent in the vest.

The bag was later determined to contain suspected methamphetamine, authorities say.

Once Cartwright was removed from the vehicle, authorities say they found another bag in his pocket with residue.

Cartwright stated to agents he was “transporting the methamphetamine to give to someone else,” according to the uniform citation.

A vehicle search also located a container with marijuana inside and another bag with methamphetamine residue, officials say.

Authorities say they found what appeared to be acid in Cartwright’s wallet.

The windshield of the vehicle was also found to be cracked.

Cartwright was arrested and is charged with failure to produce insurance card, operating on a suspended or revoked operators license, improper or no windshield, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (less than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (LSD).

Cartwright was transported to the Simpson County Detention Center.
