Man arrested after pursuit in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. – One man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he was involved in a vehicle pursuit in Glasgow.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police observed a 1999 Ford Mustang traveling just before 4:45 p.m. on Highway 90 on Sunday.

Troopers say they saw the vehicle did not display any registration and turned onto Quarry Road. During this time, the citation says the trooper turned the cruiser’s blue lights on, and the Mustang began to flee.

Troopers say the vehicle reached speeds of 95 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone and drove recklessly on the wrong side of the road.

After pursuing the vehicle down multiple streets, authorities say one trooper tried to deploy stop sticks at the intersection of Salem Church Road and Old Munfordville Road. Authorities say the driver, identified as Bobby Johnson, 44, of Cave City, tried to hit that trooper with his vehicle but failed to do so.

Johnson then struck the trooper’s patrol car, causing major damage to it, authorities say.

Troopers say they intervened until they were able to cause the Mustang to be stuck so that it could not reenter the road. During this time, the Mustang struck the passenger side of a separate patrol vehicle, according to authorities.

Troopers say Johnson did not comply with verbal commands and tried to grab onto a trooper, leading to taser deployment.

Johnson was brought out of the Mustang and onto the ground and continued to resist arrest, authorities say.

After additional troopers arrived to assist, a taser was deployed again, and Johnson was arrested.

During a search of the Mustang, troopers say they found a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, different types of medication, digital scales, plastic bags and U.S. currency.

Johnson was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for a blood draw before being taken to the Barren County Detention Center.

He is charged with speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, driving DUI on suspended license, third offense, reckless driving, drug paraphernalia – buy/posses, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second or greater offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams methamphetamine), first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), attempted murder of first responder (police officer), resisting arrest, first-degree criminal mischief, failure to wear a seat belt, disregarding a stop sign, no registration receipt, no registration plates, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, first offense, and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
