Man accused of leading deputies in pursuit of stolen Beetle

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is accused of leading Warren County Sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit and wrecking a stolen car.

Friday, deputies were in the Fair Street area attempting to locate a stolen 2007 Volkswagen Beetle.

A deputy saw the car traveling down Fair Street and activated his emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

The vehicle fled from the deputy for a short period before striking a residential fence and utility pole.

The accused driver, Paul Reynolds, 33, ran from deputies before forcing his way into a home through a door, according to the release.

Deputies were directly behind him and found Reynolds in the back of the residence where he was taken into custody.

Deputies searched the stolen car and found a firearm as well as 148 grams of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine, according to the release.

Reynolds is a convicted felon.

Reynolds was charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000, first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident, second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, second-degree burglary, resisting arrest, trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamine greater than two grams, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, reckless driving and second-degree wanton endangerment.

He was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. His bond is set at $10,525.
