Man accused of intentionally striking police car

GLASGOW, Ky. – A man is behind bars in Barren County accused of leading police on a pursuit and then wrecking into one of their cruisers.

According to his arrest citation, Christopher Burks, 24, disregarded several stop signs, led police on a pursuit reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour and nearly collided head-on with an officer’s cruiser.

Police say that officer was eventually able to get his cruiser in front of Burks’ vehicle and slow him down but then Burks ran into the back of the cruiser, causing minor damage to both vehicles.

Burks said he didn’t stop because he didn’t have registration or insurance, but later stated he had been high all day, according to his citation.

He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center and charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
