Man accused of injuring grandfather with axe in Morehead

MOREHEAD, Ky. – A Rowan County man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he is accused of attacking his grandfather with an axe.
According to a uniform citation, Kentucky State Police dispatch received a call Sunday regarding a male subject attacking his grandfather with an axe off of Sweet Gum Lane.
Authorities say the male subject was identified as 24-year-old Connor Mullins of Morehead.
The citation further states Mullins was believed to be under the influence of a substance.
Upon arrival, troopers say they located Mullins sitting in his room.
Authorities say they were told Mullins’ grandfather was upstairs with a head wound.
Mullins was detained. Authorities say a trail of blood could be seen on the floor and wall leading to the staircase, along with a bloody axe in a chair.
Authorities say they located Mullins’ grandfather in a room upstairs applying pressure to an injury on his head. According to troopers, Mullins’ grandfather was flown to a medical center for treatment of a broken arm and head laceration.
Mullins was transported to the Rowan County Detention Center.
He faces charges of first-degree assault – domestic violence, third-degree terroristic threatening and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.
