Man accused of burglary and unlawful imprisonment of 2 elderly people

CAVE CITY, Ky. – A Cave City man is accused unlawful imprisonment after deputies said he burglarized two homes Saturday and placed a piece of furniture in front of one of the doors at one home to prevent the elderly occupants from getting out.

Joshua Bunch, 36, was charged with first-degree criminal trespassing, first-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree unlawful imprisonment and one count of second-degree assault.

He is accused of breaking into two homes on Mammoth Cave Road. Deputies said in Bunch’s arrest citation, that he entered a home through the back door in the 4100 block of Mammoth Cave Road and ran out the front door and across the street into another home in the 4200 block.

Two elderly people live inside the second home where Bunch is accused of placing a small sofa in front of the door, according to his arrest citation.

A relative of the elderly residents confronted Bunch at the second house where Bunch is accused of pulling out a box cutter and cutting that person on the hand, according to his arrest citation.

Bunch is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. His bond is set at $50,000.
