Mammoth Cave to offer free concert to celebrate African-American influences
MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky.- Mammoth Cave National Park will continue its year-long commemoration of 400 years of African-American history by offering a free concert this weekend.
The national park will welcome the gospel music group, Essence in Harmony on Saturday, October 12 at 6:30 p.m.
The event will take place at the park’s outdoor amphitheater.
During 2019 and 2020, the national park service is commemorating the landing of the first enslaved Africans in English-occupied North America in August 1619.
Mammoth Cave National Park is participating in the year-long commemoration and conversation by hosting events and programs throughout the year that highlight 400 years of African American history and accomplishments.
