Magnolia Street family celebrates Halloween in a unique way

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Driving down Magnolia Street in Bowling Green, you might notice a bit of a fright at the Carn-Evil of Chaos.

“We’ve always enjoyed Halloween.. we enjoyed building the props, doing the shows… we enjoy watching the people’s eyes when they come up and see it,” Robert Hazel, one of the designers, says.

One pair has bonded over the Halloween chaos and continues coming back year after year.

“Every year for the past few years, especially since he’s been born, we come by as I am a DoorDash driver, so I spend a lot of time driving by. He has absolutely fell in love with it. I grew up loving Halloween myself, so once I had a Halloween lover, I got even more excited at the fact that we could share that together,” Payton Cardwell, who comes by with her little ones, says.

You might see some familiar faces in the chaos. But the best part of it all?

“Every Friday night in October, we will all be dressed up. The monsters will come out and play, so stop by and see us. You never know what you might see. You might get a good scare,” Melanie Chaffin, the owner of the home where the Carn-Evil of Chaos is, says.

The community loves having a scary good time while visiting.

“Honestly, it’s probably one of the best parts of the community. I know that Dad isn’t too much of a Halloween fanatic as much as Mom is, so that’s something him and I can specifically share together. I get to enjoy time with not just him… he has two other siblings who absolutely love it. I get to do it as a family event, which is the most important part for us,” Cardwell says.
