Magistrates approve Mesonet weather station at Ephram White Park
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A vital tool for weather forecasters will soon be constructed in Warren County.
At Friday morning’s Fiscal Court meeting in Warren County, magistrates unanimously approved a Western Kentucky University Mesonet station at Ephram White Park.
The university will be picking up the tab for construction costs.
The Kentucky Mesonet is a network of automated weather and climate monitoring stations developed by the Kentucky Climate Center at WKU.
“I think it could be a real vital piece to help with local weather forecasting and being able to keep up with the historical data to track trends and I think it’s a win-win for everyone,” said Chris Kummer, director of Warren County Parks and Recreation.
There are nearly 70 Mesonet stations across the state. This will be the second one in Warren County and the first to be located in a Warren County park.
